In and out, in more ways than one
I stopped by BT's on a Monday, early afternoon. The club is located in a safe business district in Dearborn. It has valet parking ($10 if I recall correctly), but unlike other upscale Detroit clubs (e.g., Flight Club, Landing Strip), BTs does not require its customers to use the valet parking (and relinquish your keys and car to a parking attendant). On this visit, I parked on a side street just to the west of the club, near the car dealership. When I walked to the club, there was no pressure to use their valet services.
The club is well maintained and features lots of TVs and shiny chrome decorations. When you enter the club, there is a reception desk that collects entrance fees at night (but not during the day) and an attendant who will typically direct or escort you to a seat. The club has a central stage with two stripper poles. The stage is surrounded by an array of small tables and then on one side of the stage a couple of tiers of booths are located. There is also a bar on the right side as you enter with seating for 12-15 customers/dancers. In the evening, there is a charge for a booth but in the early afternoon, the booth is free. Private dances are done is an enclosed space that contains a series of cubicles. Each cubicle is fairly small but is equipped with a privacy curtain, a comfortable bench seat, a mirror and a wall hooks for temporarily discarded clothes. The bathrooms and the stripper dressing room is located down a hallway just past the private dance area. The music consists of a mix of rock, hip hop and Latin dance music. The music volume is reasonable and allows for conversation.
Overall, it is a very good club set up but for three minor but annoying features. First, the club charges $20 for every trip to the private dance area. This is not outrageous but it discourages "audition dances" where you check out a new dancer before deciding it you want to negotiate for additional services. Second, the private dance area has a small plexiglass enclosure with locking compartments where the dancer and the customer are required to store their smart phones during a private dance. The dancer is given the key and you both collect your smart phone on your way out of the private dance area. Evidently, this policy was initiated because a dancer and her customer decided to record and post their intimate private dances to the internet, thus providing unacceptable liability for the club. Finally, as mentioned above, during the evening the club has a bathroom troll and also charges for sitting at the booths. For me, these are not deal breakers. For others, the requirement to relinquish your smart phone, even temporarily, may be an issue.
On this particular afternoon visit, the dancers were still trickling in and there were only a few customers sitting at the bar. I counted about 10 dancers. Typically, they have a range of ethnicities: white, AA, a few Cuban dancers and often a Middle Eastern looking dancer (note that Dearborn has a large Arabic population). Most, but not all, of the dancers are reasonable attractive and physically fit. The stage shows are OK, with the dancers performing 2-4 song sets and getting topless for most of their stage show. There is some tipping at the stage and during the evening a few annoying "make it rain" customers add to a party vibe that is not present during the afternoon. But the real attraction of BT's is the private dances where much more than dances is typically available from most of the performers. Most, not all, of the dancers are comfortable discussing extras. I've heard rumors that private dances are available for $25per song but I've never arranged for just a dance with any of the entertainers at BTs. In my experience, most of the dancers will start with a high quote but they are typically open for negotiation. I've been to BT's lots of times over the past decade and prices have inched up (no surprise there). Depending on the dancer, the number of alternative customers and your expectations for a private dance, you should be able to have a good time for 200, plus or minus 50. This is an "all in price" but does not include the $20 private dance access fee. I've never had dancers at BT's try to tack on per song charges above the agreed upon fee. If you are a BT customer, feel free to offer you recent experience with pricing.
On this visit, I ordered a domestic beer for $8 which was delivered by an attractive and friendly waitress. Just as the beer arrived a dancer sat down at my booth (without first asking, a minor annoyance). She was friendly but she was much larger than I prefer. So after a brief interaction, I gave her a few dollar bills and told her that I wanted to observe the stage show. Within a minute of her departure, an attractive slender dancer asked if she could join me. I recognized her from previous visits and knew that she provided a very good private dance at a reasonable price point. I asked her to join me. Rather than sitting beside me, she kneeled in the booth and immediately provided a stripper handshake, fondling over the top of my shorts and inside my shorts (I was commando). That's a great sales technique (at least for me) so we moved to a discussion of private dances and arrived at an agreement for a full range of services at a reasonable price point (just over 200). Private dance activities were very satisfying and relatively quick (probably 15 minutes). The "quick" element was not because the dancer was in a hurry (she really enjoyed herself) but because I'm old and don't last "forever" or recover quickly. Oh, to be young again!
Overall, it was an excellent visit to BTs. I was "in and out," in more ways than one, in under 30 minutes total time.
