The Blockist hadn't visited the Jewel Box for some time so decided to make a stop on a slow Tuesday. Not much changes - the gritty Block feel, Vince the bartender, marginally variously attractive dancers, historically mileage-oriented lapdances and, of course, the VIP rooms. On this day, the Blockist decided - for the purposes of enlightening the reviewing public of course - to enjoy a lapdance with one of the consistently accommodating veterans of the Block scene. Few holds were barred within the limits of the comfy lapdance booth. There are three of them along the left wall toward the back, newly refurbished with plush upholstery and padded walls between the booths, conveniently located next to the men's room which accommodates those fastidious patrons who might want a pre- or post-lapdance freshening-up, both of which are part of the Blockist's habit - and in a high-traffic part of the club which can occasionally result in an impromptu leer or appreciative oogle from one of the dancers traveling to and from the ladies room if that floats your boat.

For about 200 bucks, gratuity included, the transaction went smoothly with at least two laps completely danced.

The Jewel Box is on the Blockist's Top 5 list of entertainment venues on the Block - East Baltimore Street between Holiday/Commerce and Gay Streets.
