Sugar44, used to be one of my go to clubs, is now on the bottom of my list. Here's why, went in on a Saturday night, normally you would expect a huge crowd and plenty of dancers; but the place is almost empty as if it was on a Sunday night. Not a good sign but what the heck, I'm already here. Only a few customers and very few dancers. A few songs in and I was approached by a dancer who came out of the back room. Some chit chat and I can tell she's pushing me for VIP. They've completely changed the VIP pricing. Used to be able to get in with $20 wristband and $20/song. Now it's all or nothing, pricing starts at $150 for 15 minutes, $300 for 30 minutes and I believe $600 for 60 minutes. Ouch, I don't think so and definitely not with this dancer. Unless you really like your dancer or you're just completely wasted, it's not worth it IMO. Anyway, I opted for the floor dance and see how that goes as it's still $10/song. One song in, or maybe 1/2 a song the bouncer already made a bee line and asked me to hands off, can't touch the dancer. So new rule in Sugar44, absolutely no contact on the floor unless you're willing to shell out at least $150 for the dancer. Sure, I believe this business model will work wonders... After that song I bailed like there's no tomorrow.
