I was passing through Beaumont on a cross-country trip and decided to find a local club to pass some time. Dream Street was the only club in the yellow pages that was obviously a strip bar, so I took the long trip down MLK Pkwy to check it out.

The club consists of one largish room with a single main stage. The bar decor is reasonbly nice -- mirrors on the wall, cushy armchairs, decent quality fixtures. The stage is higher than what I am used to at other clubs. Even if you are sitting in "pervert row" you will have to stand up to be noticed if you want to tip the girl on stage. The bathroom was about "gas station quality," and smoking was very definitely allowed in the building.

The girls are mostly white with a couple of token blacks. For the most part I was very unimpressed. The stage lighting, while dark, was not dark enough to hide a lot of chunky butts and stretch-marked stomachs. There were two girls that I thought were cute -- maybe 7's on the old 1-10 scale -- but the rest were 5's at best. I grabbed the club's "rock and roll" chick (short dark hair, leather boots, always dances to metal -- every club has one) and asked her what was the deal with this club. She said dances were performed in a g-string over in the darkly lit corners of the main room. There is no private area. Dances are $20. There are no "girly drinks" here. If you buy a girl a drink, it is really a drink and costs the same as a customer drink.
