In the spirit of giving every club a chance I went to Crikets (no Silver) yesterday for a look see-one drink and out trial run.My last trip to Crikets was over twenty years ago so obviously things have changed. At risk of being flagged a shiller I gotta' say this place looks great. After visiting the local Bogarts/Johns Hot Spot/ Henrys' N=S and The LS and the FC my expectations were low. The place is bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside and the room actually looks cool and clean. I am an older monger and I guess I appreciate atmosphere almost as much as the girls.I know why we are there but does it have to look like a dive and stink every time? So first it looks great. Central stage with a bar on the right that actually looks like an upscale bar with lights and glss sculpture on it. Great sight lines from anywhere in the club except for one booth that actually has a pillar in front of it-Perfect for lurkers I guess. Girls? about 10 on shift-2 black 8 wwhite all between 5- 7 in quality but all pleasant and approachable. Another great feature here is a D.J. who doesn't blast the music while the clib is half empty. You can actually talk in here.Perhaps the most suprising feature is the lack of cheap ass nickel and diming. No parking fee-Free parking in back. No cover just a hello from the owner and in you go. No extra fee to the VIP and no tip to the goon who watches the curtains-no goon no tipping. Cute and friendly bartender who gave good service and brewed me a pot of coffee when I ordered it.I know that is not a usual order but I don't drink when I am on the road so its coffee or water for me. Most places just tell me "we're out" if they don't want to make any. Service counts. I tipped a particularily energetic dancer who worked the poles like a pro. She was a little older but should teach the young uns' a thing or two about dancing. She came over and chit-chatted before asking if I wanted a dance. Dances are $20.00 a song. We did the VIP thang'for 2 1/2 songs but she charged me only one. I was not finacially equipped for extras but it was implied that they were available.
My visit was short but I had a nice time. This is getting rare in the strip club business and I thought I should give props where they are due. If you like a semi-classy space with no aggressive hustle and reasonable noise then you may wnat to try this place. The girls are no better nor no worse than any of the other neighborhood places.Money wise your dollars go further here than anywhere around. I did not try the food but everything I tried was pleasant. Not a good club for rowdy bachelor parties but a great place for hanging out. I even watched a little of the ball game, God I'm getting old.
