I took a chance on Carl's on a week night, a Thursday evening, and was pleasantly surprised. There was no cover charge such as I experienced on my last visit on a Saturday evening. Also, of course, not nearly as mean customers. It was quite easy to get a seat. On Saturdays it is standing room only. Dances were also all $10 and not $20. I guess the cost is what the market will bear. With less demand on a week night, the dancers did not try to charge the $20 cost. I also had a surprisingly good set of dances - 4 or 5- with a very, very slender brunette. By good I do not mean high mileage, for they were not. But good in that she actually seemed "in" to the dance. Perhaps she is a good actor, but it was definitely much better than your average dance.
