The Topeka Sports Cabaret is something...

The Topeka Sports Cabaret is something of a mixed bag. I've had good times there but I think I will stop short of recommending it. While the dancers are attractive enough, your money doesn't go very far here. The club seems to have pretensions on being a truly upscale place but I think that image exists mostly in the heads of the owners and managers of the place. I will give them points for providing a nice clean club with a good atmosphere, but I don't feel like they really quite make the experience worthwhile.

The wait staff is attentive, to say the least. In fact they are TOO attentive. Asking if you need a drink refill while you still have half of it left is pushy. They overstaff their waitresses which leads to being attacked from all sides when you visit. It might be acceptable if the waitresses divvied up the customers in some way to get to know you or what your drink of choice was, even flirt with you a bit, recommend a dancer, or help you find someone. But they really don't. The waitresses wander around and you'll get asked by ALL OF THEM if you need something. Drink service is speedy, but I just don't like being hassled like that. This is a great example of why this club is not truly upscale. They go through the motions, but I never quite feel welcomed due to the pressure.

Perhaps for this reason, the club is not that well attended by customers most of the time. On the occasions I have been there, there haven't been that many patrons - even on a Friday/Saturday night. Maybe I was just there on off night(s).
