Stopped by Diamond Lounge on a Wednesday afternoon. You walk down a flight of stairs into a small club. Typical setup with a small stage behind the bar. This place has sort of a dive bar feel which I like. On this particular shift there were five girls working, three white and two black. Gemini, an older dancer, was actually tending bar. Four out of the five girls working rated in the 3-4 range. The one light skinned black girl, spinner type, rated a 7 by block standards anyway.
Figured I may as well sit for a drink. I usually buy at least one for myself instead of walking right out, just to give the place a chance, even if nothing immediately catches my eye. Jack and Coke it is. Gemini charges me the standard $10 which is what it always runs. Then after a minute she comes back to inform me that the price went up to $12. Really? I mean it's $2, not a big thing, but wow, on principle that's a big change since I was in yesterday ordering the same drink for $10. In fact not one other club on the block charges more than $10. It's $9 or $10 for top shelf at every club. I questioned it and she insisted the prices had been increased. Well to be honest, I don't know what the real story is. I guess I have to take her at her word. I paid the $2, took a few sips and walked out. I also have no idea what was in my drink. I saw it poured from a bottle of Jack, but I would bet my life it was not Jack, more like heavily watered down rail booze.
