Had some business in Richmond and concluded it in time for lunch. I'd remember that my first visit to Pure Pleasure around lunch time was pretty decent and decided to give it a try again. This club is really hit or miss. First of all there was no door attendant - I walked in and the bartender waved me in for a free entry (didn't even have to get that silly wristband). I asked about lunch deals and they were still doing the $5 steak deal (with baked potato) so that took care of lunch, but after that things were really lackluster. A few un-eager dancers went on stage, but as soon as they finished they rushed back to their regulars or went off to the full-bar section on the other side of the partition. I finally asked the bartender if they ever announced private dances or 2-for-1 specials anymore and she said she'd better go and remind the DJ. He finally announced it and I went ahead and asked one of the dancers for a private - paid the $50 to the bartender (looks like she was wearing all the hats in the business except the hat of a dancer that day) and got my private dances. Well the dancer had clearly been eating garlic bread, on closer inspection had some 'delightful' stretch marks, and talked a fair bit about her kids. Wow, that's fun. The dance was still topless with decent contact, but incredibly robotic. I tipped her and then tried to decide if I smelled more like smoke or garlic-bread, and figured that it was time to hit the road. I'm glad I didn't pay the entrance fee - I spent about an hour and half in there and felt that it was time wasted, except for the 30 minutes I spent with my steak and beer. Maybe the trick is to only check the place out on Friday/Saturday/Sunday if you're going for the lunchtime special - I'm guessing the free buffet that Thursday was Italian and this dancer had taken her fill.
