I hadn't been to Mardi Gras in probably more than a year. The amazing thing about this club is that it really never changes - the dancers change but the place is pretty much the same as when I first went there about 15 years ago. That's not a bad thing, it's nice to know what to expect if you're going out of your way instead of just passing by.

If you're just there to watch for a few dollars, the best bet is the bar, probably along what seems like the "back" wall, to the left of the Taylor Street entrance. Get a seat at the bar, a stack of singles, and a drink and enjoy. The "stage" is the bar, an irregularly shaped "rectangle", and there generally are about 5-6 dancers circulating around the bar for a good half hour per shift.

For the most part the dancers are above average, rarely a chubby or ugly, and they're not shy for a buck or two. One downside, tips now are generally $2 instead of the customary $1, but they stick around for more than 5 seconds.
