Silky's in Pittsburgh was recently bought...

Silky's in Pittsburgh was recently bought out under new management. I decided to visit the club for the first time on a late Saturday night since they had a Facebook special where it was (apparently) a $5 cover ($10 normal - $5 discount for the FB special) to get in and the fact that they are open until 5PM. After some clubbing on the South Side, I visited Silky's right before 3AM on a Saturday night. The club is tiny - the smallest club I've seen in Pittsburgh (and I've been to Cheerleaders, Erotica, and Blush). The crowd is very "ghetto" and the location is deeper in McKees Rocks which isn't a great area. Erotica, another club which I've frequented, is a lot closer to the borders of McKees Rocks and a lot closer to gas stations and more open. It is also significantly bigger. Silky's was a disappointment. First, the cover was $20, but the bouncer let us in for $10. This includes free alcohol (rail liquor or draft beer) like the neighboring Club Erotica. Not a big deal if the club was good - sadly, it was not. There were scraps of paper towels all over the ground, empty and spilled beer cups, and the bathroom was dirty. There was also no bathroom attendant in the one person (dirty) bathroom, and this is a usual for the other strip clubs in Pittsburgh that I've been to. Drinks are free (alcoholic), but non-alcoholic drinks are expensive - $2 gets you a small water bottle. They also have snacks which are relatively expensive. There are two stages that are crammed into the space - literally crammed - as you enter you can barely walk because the first stage is so close to the register where the bouncer is to take your cover. The stages have 2-3 poles each yet only one is occupied at a time (despite the seats being mostly full). With the "ghetto" crowd, I often saw many guys falling over and even one sleeping on the chairs beside the stage. Dancer quality isn't great either, and there are only 5-7 girls on shift. Didn't partake in any dances or VIP, but I would find that hard to get due to the super cramped nature of the club. The sound system was terrible and they have two announcers which repeat the same statements every minute and it is quite contradictory. The valet parking is pretty shady and they store your keys in a box that is on the floor outside the club out in the open. If you are in the McKees Rocks area or want the free alcohol, definitely go to Erotica. It is a LOT better and I truly enjoy it. You pay a little higher cover ($20 to get in, $25 after 2AM, open until 4AM) but you get a lot better interaction, it is a lot more roomy, and the crowd is a lot nicer. Getting a ride back is also easier since it is right next to two gas stations. If you want truly good mileage and a classy, upscale environment, hit up Cheerleaders - the best club in Pittsburgh hands down. Blush is worse than Erotica in my opinion (also small, limited mileage and rather expensive - see my other review about that), but certainly better than Silky's. Sadly, I don't think I'll be visiting again.
