It was my first time to...

It was my first time to Hi-Liter. The parking lot was more than half full, which I thought was a little surprising for mid-afternoon. The sign as you approached the door said “ID required” and a few other admonitions, so I didn’t quite know what to expect. But there was nobody in the ticket taker style booth at the entrance, so I just walked in. There was a guy inside who seemed to be the bouncer. It took awhile for my eyes to adjust as I slowly made my way through a bunch of tables and chairs towards the stage. There were a lot of people at the bar – guys and girls, but nobody sitting around the stage. There were maybe 5 or 6 girls working.

The music was loud, but not deafening; the girl on the stage looked good, but with both top and bottom on I wasn’t too impressed. I watched for a short while until a waitress came over, and I ordered diet coke, which was $4. While I was waiting for the drink, a white girl came over, and asked if she could sit with me. Of course I said yes. Just then the waitress arrived with two drinks – apparently that’s the way they handle refills. I asked the girl her name: Chaos. Unusual, but easy to remember.

The stage girls switched, but I was concentrating on Chaos. I asked her if they had a VIP room, and she said yes. Would you like to dance for me in there? I asked, and she was enthusiastically positive. I asked, How much does it cost? And she told me $25 for the room and the dance. I said, “let’s go. Would you like one of these drinks?” Which she accepted. She took my hand and walked me towards the front pointing out where the room was, and saying she would be right back; she had to tell the manager.
