I checked out Red Garter on...

I checked out Red Garter on a Thursday late afternoon. The club is located on Duval Street, Key West’s main drag, in close proximity to many bars and restaurants. The club is not too wide but seems to extend back a ways. There is a long stage with two poles along the right side of the room and a long bar along the left side of the room. There is a large walled-display case of Lionel toy trains towards the back of the club. I have never seen anything like that before in a titty bar. There was no cover charge. I had a Coke costing $3 and a cocktail costing $11.50.

There were six dancers when I arrived after 5pm, and perhaps eleven working around 9pm when I left. Most of the talent was in the 2-7 range, but there was one diamond in the rough white girl that I’d rate a 9. About half of the dancers were from former Soviet states, and these ladies were pushy and downright ugly. If I had not locked down the 9, my visit would have been much briefer. I had good chemistry with the buxom beauty and received great value: dick-grabbing, titty-sucking, and stroking the kittie over her thong. I’m pretty sure these activities were pushing the envelope at this particular club. Lap dances take place in a small side room along the hallway to the back of the club and cost $20. The lapper room could only fit maybe three couples inside at a time. Privacy is nonexistent with only a swinging door in the opening and the likelihood of other patrons getting lap dances while you are getting some. The manager here is a prick and aggressively fines his dancers. He will come over and start staring you down when you’re getting a lap dance. There are supposedly VIP rooms upstairs, but based on the manager’s behavior, I’d guess extracurricular activities are not tolerated here. The people who own this club, also own the Rick’s complex next door.
