Flashdancer’s functions as a succinct example...
Flashdancer’s functions as a succinct example of the stereotype of the Manhattan strip club.
The club itself is downstairs from the street entrance, and there is a mandatory coat check upon entering. The room itself is somewhat large, but feels smaller because of the layout and low ceilings. The main room is dominated by a large rectangular bar where one girl is always dancing, and to one side is a two-pole stage. Off to the right of the stage is a second room with tables and a couch along the wall for lap dances. I did not observe the private dance setup, though I’m fairly that one exists.
The girls were attractive and very pushy. Even on a weekday afternoon, most of the dancers were all business: “Would you like to buy me a drink? Would you like a dance? Okay, bye!†Waitresses and bartenders were always on hand when a dancer approached, allowing for immediate sales. The girls on this afternoon were mostly Russian/Ukranian and Brazilian, with one Asian and one black girl. Almost all of these girls were gorgeous, so I can only imagine what the evening talent looks like.
