I went into the Pink Pony...

I went into the Pink Pony on a Monday night (actually Tuesday morning) around 2am after being called out by one of my dancer friends in Atlanta for being a wimp because I wanted to get one decent night's sleep this week. We'd already hit Oasis the night before, which was dreadful, and not even worthy of a review (plus I've already done a review of Oasis, and have been back several times since, and it really is a solid club). Apparently Oasis on Sunday night is not really prime time. I should know better, I guess. Anyway, on to the Pink Pony review:

We ended up getting to the club maybe just after 2am, plenty of parking, I think it cost me $3 (although we had 2 vehicles, I know they only charged me one parking fee), looked relatively safe. Two guys on the door working security, ID check for all of us, bag check for both of the girls with me, and a fairly brief pat down for me. The bag check was certainly comprehensive enough to catch one of the girls with something she needed to put back in the car, Follies this is not...

Once inside, both girls headed right inside, ignoring the girl behind the counter who was asking for the cover charge. I thought this was quite charming, although the door girl looked a little pissed. So I took care of the cover, which was $10 each, and caught up to them as they sat at the bar on the far left of the club. The basic layout seems fairly standard, main stage extending to about the middle of the club, bar on the back wall, and a smaller bar on the left side as you walk in. There is also a secondary stage kind of right in front of the main bar in the back. There were not many girls on rotation this night, I would say 12 or 15 at most. And for the most part the customers were female, which was very strange. Or at least the females were the only ones tipping. There was a large party sitting kind of behind us in these low couch/booth type areas on the far left hand wall of the club, and it was 6 or 7 girls, then another party of 2 guys and 4 girls. Then a few guys kind of scattered around out on the floor not really tipping or getting dances. Kind of a weird vibe. Turned out that most of them were waitresses or dancers at the club just to hang out, which might have explained it. Anyway, I'm rambling and doing a terrible job of actually reviewing the club.
