Several years ago enjoyed several visits to the Sundowner (I think I reviewed my first visit in '08) so I was looking forward to returning. In '06 - '08 the club was often near the top of the TUSCL list, and I discovered that it (then) earned that ranking. The club is more run down now. The staff seems a little slower, fewer smiles and less energetic. Even the dancers appeared to me to be older, tireder, a bit run-down.

I hoped that my first, poor, impression was due to it being midweek and an early hour (5:30), so I stayed until after 10:00pm. Wasted my time! Simply put, the glory days of the Sundowner are passed. Better to take the time to drive around to the Toronto area clubs, than waste an evening in the Sundowner. I hate saying that. The place used to be so much fun.
