After entering Phat’s you step down to a small room with a circular bar in the center. Friendly bartender and an easy-going crowd. A small stage is in one corner with dollar tipping. Privates dances are $10 at the bar (an option I didn’t try) or $20 upstairs. I took advantage of this option with Mocha and then Monique. Once you go upstairs, you are seated on one of three couches with the dancer and a portable CD player on the floor. While downstairs the DJ is playing hip-hop, upstairs the dances are to a limited selection of ballads on the portable player. In addition, the manager babysits right outside the door.

As I learned, it makes a difference which couch you end up in are some are right in his line of sight and others totally private. From Mocha, I received an energetic – but not very stimulating performance – while Monique offered a lot of extras (as long as the bills kept coming.) Over all range of the dancers was about a 3-6 with probably 6 or 7 dancers in on a Wedesday night when the crowd wasn’t much larger.

The location is convenient to the large downtown hotels. Would I go there again? Probably not until I tried other clubs that Louisville had to offer.
