I was in town on a business trip, and I wanted to escape reality and have some fun. This turned out to be the place to do it.

I went on a Wednesday night around 9:00. Strangely, the club is in a strip mall-type of building, but the other business is something like a sexy clothes shop, so it all might be related. Parking gets 3.5 stars: well lit, bouncer observed, but cramped and probably easy to get away with popping a lock or window.

The feel of Houston Dolls is halfway between "fun strip club" and "seedy dive bar." The bouncer outside doesn't check your ID; the girl inside does. You must pass through a metal detector, but I experienced no problems and actually felt a little safer as a result. Tip: Free cover with hotel key card. When you walk in, the main stage is to the left, bar to the right, a little round cage-stage in the middle, and cocktail tables throughout (restroom is around the far side of the bar). Facility (not including LD rooms) gets 3 stars: nice overall "finish" (bar and stage railing and tables) but many half-broken seats and a rotting-away restroom.
