A few weeks ago I had had a great night at Hollywood, but for some reason felt tempted in the wee hours of Saturday morning to venture to the backend of Washington Park. As you rumble down the potholed street past the increasingly decrepit shacks you notice that even the police station had to put bars on their windows for protection. This is not for the faint hearted.

As has been written by others, Dollie's is best described as a lean-to structure that wouldn't look out of place in the Favelas of Sao Paulo.

But there are things that will surpise you: the lot is reasonably lit and a bouncer stands guard over the cars most of the time. Pulling in I also noticed a cop car was also keeping an eye over the joint (after all the strip clubs probably generate most of the city's taxes). Entry I believe was only $3 per head and drinks were cheap (I was a little too fried to remember the exact amount). The bar girl was extremely friendly and attentive, and despite being a raical minority in the place (being a honky 'n all) the atmosphere was welcoming and in no way hostile.
