I've been following TUSCL for about five years now, and always read that Mario's was THE New England club to visit. While it was always too far away for me, I had the good luck to be in the area for business, and thought I'd finally be able to stop in, and see what the hoopla was about. Unfortunately, I left underwhelmed.
The club is easy to find, and my marker was the chinese restaurant across the street. I found it first, and then looked around for the club. Parking was no problem for a Tuesday afternoon, but I have to wonder what happens on a crowded weekend evening. You park in the back of the club, and make your way inside, which is broken down into two rooms. The first room has the bar and the huge 'H'-shaped stage, while the second room is behind the stage, and filled with small tables, for a more comfortable visit. I sat at the bar side, thinking that I'd get a better view of the girls, but the bar room is too lame. Most dancers spend their time in the larger room, where the tables are. After a couple of beers at the bar, and a good amount of tipping at the stage, I wandered into the second room, and got much more attention from the dancers.
The dancers were very friendly, and most stopped by to chat for a few minutes before asking for a private dance. I had to turn them down; while attractive enough, I couldn't rank anyone above a 6, and just couldn't get excited about going to the back with any of them. Though the room was well packed, I didn't see anyone else bringing the girls to the back, either. I'm hoping that it was just a slow day, and that the quality of the girls gets better at night. I left after about an hour, thinking that I would drop back in the following night. Unfortunately, my meeting ran long, and so I was never able to stop back in. I have to return in a few weeks, and will stop back in to see if things are different at night.
