Those in Milwaukee know that the quality of strip clubs as a whole is pretty poor. Those strip clubs that have feature acts tend to relieve you of your money as quickly as possible without so much as a smile and the others are simply lacking in quality dancers. The Spot Lite has never been the most pleasant of places, and while their dancers were never top shelf, they used to make up for it with a bit of effort and personality. Sadly, those assets seem to have fled the establishment.

The cover is cheep, $3.00, or in my case free as no one was working the door when I walked in. There were about four patrons at the bar and three dancers lolling about. The dancer on stage was just finishing her first song as I sat down. The dancers have to plug the jukebox before they mount the stage, which gives them the chance to choose their own music, but in the case of the tardy, leave the stage bare for quite some time. This first was one of the better dancers of the evening, actually using the pole quite effectively and engaging the audience. And then came the second song. While she pulled back her bikini top to reveal her aged but still firm breasts, she never actually removed the top. And herein lies the problem.

The art of stripping, at least here in the Cream City, is dissolving quickly. Once upon a time you would get a three song set. In the first, the dancer would come out in a full outfit, sometimes quite elaborate and give you a nice tease. In the second, pieces would be removed revealing a sexy bra and sometimes a thong. And in the third, the breasts would finally be revealed. It was a tease, and the momentum would build and there would actually be applause. And when they came back for their next appearance they would have another outfit. Sadly this care for the art has all but disappeared from our fair city and was certainly the case tonight.
