I finally made it to Follies...

I finally made it to Follies after being invited there by a dancer I'd known from another club, who was now working day shift at Follies. I was initially a bit resistant, because I actually wasn't going for high mileage dances, or anything else that the other reviews have suggested was available at Follies, but just to hang out. Well, my hesitancy was completely wrong. I managed to get to the club by about 3pm and we hung out until her shift ended at 8pm, and we had a great time. Follies felt like a perfectly safe neighborhood bar that happened to have naked ladies dancing in it the whole time. On to some details:

The location of Follies isn't the best in the world, but for Atlanta it's certainly not the worst. I didn't feel unsafe at all driving around the area during the day (I missed the sign for Follies the first time I passed it, not because it's hard to see, but because apparently I'm an idiot) and then had to turn around after driving too far and didn't feel uncomfortable at all. Again, day time, and a Wednesday, so make your own judgements, but leaving around 8:30pm or so, I also felt fine with the neighborhood. As I was there early, there was no valet required, although I did see that it was in operation when I left. I have to admit that personally, if faced with the choice of having them valet my car or parking it in another lot and walking over, I'd have chosen to valet, but I doubt I'll come back during valet hours anyway, as my favorite works day shift.

The layout of the club seems fairly standard, large bar in the middle, with the stage wrapping all the way around it, tables in the next layer, and then high tops against the walls. Clearly the high tops are for those wanting lap dances, as they were constantly full and constantly busy, even on a Wednesday afternoon. The dancer I was here to see and I sat at a regular table, and that was plenty comfortable just to sit and talk. I definitely get the sense that, like at other clubs I've been too, the wall tables are for dances, the regular tables are for if you want to sit and drink/talk/stare at the girls.
