Some of the basic data on...
Some of the basic data on this club is considerably different from what I found.
First off, this is not a mixed ethnicity club. It is a black club, pure and simple. The bouncers, the staff, the bartenders, the dancers...I saw a dozen staff members and at least a dozen to fifteen dancers; all but one were black. There may have been another white patron or two in the place--but if so, I didn't see them. It's a black club, through and through. That said, as a "lily white" person, I felt entirely safe and welcome there. I chatted with at least a half-dozen of the staff and bartenders, and with about that many dancers. They were all warm and welcoming. I'd be happy to go back at any time.
But when I go back, I'd go a heck of a lot later. 11pm is not late enough. Go at midnight, or 1pm. The review that says this club heats up as the Savannah clubs close--I think that's exactly right, and I wish I'd payed it more mind. I was there too early. There was no more than one dancer on stage, and sometimes the stage was empty. You could tell the club would have good energy with more people, but not enough people had arrived. On Friday, they were charging a $15 cover, and $4 for beers.
