Stopped by at 1 PM today...

Stopped by at 1 PM today to check out the renovation progress and dancers. Club now opens at 12 noon daily instead of the old 6 PM. When I arrived I was the only non-employee there. Bartender and manager plus 3 dancers were busy hanging Christmas decorations. They cleared a spot for me at the bar and I thumbed through the local strip club magazine for a few songs. Then girls started dancing. Two of the three are brand new and it's the only time they've ever worked at a club. The third, Exotica, has worked at Oz before the changeover. All did two song sets and as the third, Exotica, was finishing her set two other customers arrived. I asked for a tour of the couch room and Exotica showed me the private, $30, rooms and the $20 couch room. I settled on the couch room and had a basic dance giving it a chance to develop through 3 songs. There was HOP but not much promise of more.

Comments on the club itself. They will soon change the name to Gold Club. The old center bar is gone. Now when you enter the bar is up against the front wall, Girard Ave. side, on your left. There is a small two pole stage on the wall toward Front St. There are rows of soft chairs and tables ala Gold Club Center City on the main floor. I was told by bartender and dancers that they have never closed through the construction. I used the men's room and while I was at the urinal there was a guy sitting backwards on the toilet finishing the tile work.

One additional note. The stage is extremely well lit. The dancers don't like it but mgt. has told them that they do, so for now it stays. Kind of doubt it will for long.

I think this club is worth watching. They have some specials coming up in January with dancers from 15 area clubs.
