Visited: Sunday Afternoon

Based on the reviews as well as several mentions in the discussion area here at TUSL I visited Follies twice a couple of weeks apart during September. Just a word about the location of the club. It is on Buford Highway, but contrary to the map link from the club's main page here in TUSL, it is back towards downtown from I-285 rather than just outside the loop. Exit I-85 and go north on Clairmont Road (SR155). Turn right when you reach Buford Highway (US23/SR13) and it is about 2 blocks on the right across from the Plaza Fiesta shopping center. Both visits were on Sunday afternoons, and I arrived prior to the required valet parking both times. The club was a little larger than I expected based on the reviews I had read, but the way it is laid out makes it difficult to move around. The bar in the center of the main floor takes up too much room and the runways that connect the main stage on one end with a smaller stage on the other end take up a lot of floor space and also create a barrier between the lowered center part of the room and the raised area near the entrance/exit. For the number of square feet involved there should be twice as much available seating for customers. Even though I visited on Sunday afternoons the place was just about full the entire times I was there.

Now, on to the good part. There are dozens of women walking around the floor in various stages of undress ranging from bra and thong to nothing at all. Nothing. Naked. Nude. Not most of them, but enough of them for someone used to stricter rules to find it incredible that nude women are allowed to walk around in an establishment that serves alcoholic beverages. Most are fairly to extremely attractive, with very few that you wouldn't want to stop by your table to say "Hi". Some were very friendly and did just that, while others acted as if I was invisible and ignored me completely. YMMV. With so many dancers even at $10 a dance you can go through more than a little cash finding the ones that provide that extra bit of excitement. Luckily, Shadowcat and a few other TUSL regulars were on hand to advise me in that respect. The lap dances on the floor are best experienced in the tall bar stool type chairs against the side wall on the opposite end of the club from the DJ booth. I was nicely surprised by what some of the dancers were willing to do to me, and what they allowed me to do to them, for a $10 lap dance.

The mileage gets even better in the VIP. Just make sure you work expectations in terms of mileage and tips out with the dancer before you agree to the VIP and pay the $42 house fee. The biggest problem with the VIP is limited capacity. There are two "private" rooms in one corner of the club with beaded coverings over the door, and an open VIP room with five small couches. One of the couches is against the left wall on a raised platform at the back of the room, the other four are arranged two on the left and two on the right as you enter through the beaded door. Each set of two is set up facing each other and the two on the left are close enough for dancers and patrons to accidentally bump those on the couch across from them. Although it is fairly dark in the open VIP room compared to the main floor, there is enough light to see everything going on around you once your eyes have acclimated to the darkness. Fortunately, no one seems to care what is going on around them and the dancers who give high mileage VIPs will do so even when all of the other couches are occupied. The two private rooms have much more room for the one couch in each and more light as well. If you are more about watching your dancer as well as enjoying the extra possibilities, try to get a VIP in one of the two private rooms.
