In the end, basically epic, I think. Very unique somehow, and after you clear your head and adjust to their vibe versus the 30 other clubs you've been to in your life, you realize this place rocks and they've pretty much got you. Go there.
I had never been to Portland before. I wanted to sample the scene so I hit three clubs in quick succession on a weeknight over the course of about 6:00 to 11:00 p.m., and I was glad I had saved Casa Diablo for last. Devil's Point was first. Cool, divey, rock club vibe (a little). No complaints, but seemingly no dances other than the stage. Whatever, it was fun, the dancers were friendly and good-looking, etc. Next, on the recommendation of a dancer and a customer at Devil's Point, I went to Sassy's. Fine. Very much a bar with a stage. No complaints. Then rolled west to Casa Diablo...
At first, I didn't know what to make of it. A house, or former restaurant, in a sort of industrial park in the woods? Whatever, not the point. Walked in and took a seat. Not very dark, for one thing. My first impression wound up being way off, because the two dancers who happened to be on stage at the time were outliers and were the only two girls there that night that I would not rate at 8 or above. So, at first, I found myself kind of sitting there in a fairly well-lit room, that felt like it might have once been a family restaurant, looking at two dancers on stage who were definitely not doing it for me. Funny how different my impression was by the time I left two or three hours later! More dancers kept pouring in, and nearly all were pretty much gorgeous. Most of the clubs in my town are not nude, so the nudity was a nice change. I found the $2 per song to sit at the stage to be totally worth it. Yes, they tend to hop off the stage a bit.
