Decided to check out Sahara and Flamingo on a Thursday afternoon. I’ve never really been a fan of Sahara, and have always preferred Flamingo, located just down the street. But occasionally I’ll check out Sahara to see if things have improved.
So after being approached by a homeless woman in the parking lot, I walked into Sahara, and the door guy greeted me by showing me a list of rules on the wall by the front door. A two page list of rules. Apparently, since it was before 1pm, entry was free, but you had to buy a drink for $8 when you get inside. And now there’s also this insane rule that you are required to tip each dancer on stage a minimum of $2. First time I’ve ever heard of that, at any club. And then after 1pm the entry fee becomes $7. And then at some point it becomes $8. I think. I didn’t read all the rules ‘cuz I couldn’t care less. After hearing about the ridiculous $2 minimum tip rule I was about to turn around and leave, but decided to go inside anyway.
The inside of Sahara is, IMO, pretty low energy, and kinda boring. And later, after going into Flamingo, it occurred to me that the main reason was that the music and lighting at Sahara are just boring. Now I’m the last guy to place much importance in lighting and music in a strip club since I’m there for the girls, but the contrast between the two clubs was huge, and I finally had to admit that it made a big difference.
