I pop into Macombos once or twice a year. It's nothing if not consistent; the woman who runs the joint keeps tight control on things. And with it being the only club not downtown that is open in the mid-afternoon, there are times when it is the spot I need to go to.

I stopped by on a recent weekday around 3pm. Although dancers are usually on the stage by 2:30, the formal rotation doesn't start until 4pm; before that, whatever dancers are there are on one or both stages, usually for quite a long time as the owner insists that at least one person be dancing during that non-rotation time. I lucked out this visit. One of the two dancers was a local university student -- I think she'd prefer that her school not be named, as she doesn't want to run into fellow students -- who has the most amazing breasts I've ever seen in a strip club. Full, round, shimmering in the light, begging to be touched. But of course touching is not going to happen there, with the owner's approach. Too bad.

All in all, it wasn't a bad way to kill an hour and $20.
