I checked out Pulse late on...
I checked out Pulse late on a weekday night. It was dead. There were maybe eight customers and nine dancers. The cover charge was $5. Warning: They scan your driver’s license into their computer. This kind of bothered me and probably will discourage me from returning in the future. I prefer my personal information to be kept private.
The club looked kind of crummy from the outside and only marginally better inside. It looks like the building was an equipment storage shed originally. The club is basically one large room. The main stage is on the west side, and there are couches on the east wall. The middle is filled with tables and chairs. There is a small fully-stocked bar in the rear. A domestic bottle was $3.50. The bar and wait staff were kind of slow. The restrooms were beyond the bar and kind of oddly set up. You had to go into one washroom to piss, and then walk into a second washroom to wash your hands. The music was mostly hip hop with some rock music. Surprisingly, there was no thug factor. This club is listed as nude, but none of the dancers removed their bottoms while on stage. Some pussy exhibition was available in the private dance area, but it was more like flashing than full-bore nude dancing.
Out of nine ladies, five were Caucasian, three were African-American, and one was Hispanic. The best-looking girl was a 7. The talent was very average in the looks department; they either had wear and tear from having babies or needed to get to the gym more often. The black girls were too ghetto for my taste. Lap dances take place in partitioned couches arranged in an oval, so they were only semi-private. Circling around the outside of this area were the VIP booths, which were cubby-holes with black curtains covering their entrances. I tried some lap dances. There appeared to be no cameras, but a club employee walked in every other song to check to make sure nothing illegal was going on. The songs were full-length and contact was good except for the fact I was not supposed to touch the dancer’s boobs. I was told that more intimacy could be had in the VIP booths if I bought a 60- or 30-minute session. This might have been an upsell. Interestingly, the VIP cost is about the same as what you’d pay for lap dances in the same period of time if you assume each song is about four minutes.
