Sonny’s is your basic average strip...
Sonny’s is your basic average strip club. I visited on a Sunday afternoon when there were about a half-dozen dancers working. None were beauties, but none looked out of place dancing in g-strings either. Mileage is Phoenix average, with Anita giving me the most interesting lap dance. The dancers aren’t reluctant to sit down and talk, if that’s what you like.
The place is fairly small. It’s clean, neatly decorated and well maintained, so I gave it an extra point for that. As has been mentioned by the previous reviewer, the stage is very low, about one foot off the ground. This makes rail tipping different from every place else, and I never did figure out how to have fun with it. The main decoration is strings of yellow lights around the room; overall the ambiance is soft and comfortable. There are two kinds of seating in the main area: the padded, wheeled chairs with armrests that the “nice” clubs have, and the plain sort of chairs that the seedy clubs use. The plain chairs are in good condition, unlike those at Teasers or Bombshells. A VIP room is available with couches and $20 dances. Although it isn’t fully enclosed, it’s shielded from the eyes of LIPs (less important persons) like me.
The DJ working that day was mostly into rock, with a bit of pop and blues. Unfortunately, bass notes rattled the whole place, detracting from the experience. They have Fat Tire on tap, so I didn’t challenge the bartender’s drink mixing skills.
