I didn’t expect much when I revisited Sensations Friday night – and that’s what I got: not much. I had been once before about 3 years ago and, at that time, had felt like an intruder at a private party (and a pretty boring one, at that). The wait staff and the dancers and “management” stood around the bar talking to each other – ignoring the handful of customers. The dancers went through the motions. A few were rather attractive; and a couple were rather skilled dancers – but none of them seemed to be into it. That, on top of the FULL bikinis they wear here (covering far more than the swim suits you can see at any public beach in the US) should have been enough to keep me away. But, I tried it again, and was once again royally ignored.

It was actually my lady companion (who had just picked me up at the GR airport) who really wanted to go. She had been shocked when I had mentioned there was an adult club right there in her precious East Grand Rapids. Her enthusiasm was partially because she wanted to see if this place really existed – and part it was because she really likes looking at hot women. I figured it was worth the effort.

We went about 7 PM. No one met us at the door (but a short-haired rules-Nazi) came over to our table about ten minutes after we arrived and asked for a cover charge. Finally a waitress showed up for our drink order: a real disappointment: they don’t carry Maker’s Mark which frustrated my fair friend – and the only imported beer they offer is Corona which didn’t make me happy – pretty sad for a place that advertises a “full bar.”

Once again, there were a few good dancers (7s & 8s) and a few fair dancers (5s & 6s). Some seemed like they could dance well – but none seem motivated. I went to the stage a few times and placed a bill on a dancer. I thought that was a pretty good sign I was interested. Still, not one of them ever came to our table.

Finally we left – and I don’t think anyone noticed. Just to make the picture clear, we were well dressed professionals in our 40s and 50s – and had been more than willing to spend considerable money on dancers who were fun and into what they’re doing. Sure didn’t find any of those at Sensations.
