After a long long time away...
After a long long time away due partly to the behavior of a dancer who got belligerent with me last time I was there, I stopped in a Centerfoldsearly on a Wednesday afternoon. Four dancers, four customers. As my eyes adjusted, I began to think I wasn't going to stay very long. The talent wasn't exactly inspiring. But one of the ladies walked over, sat down and started to chat with me. It took a minute for it to set in, but I recognized her as Morgan, who was a cute young thing years ago at Bottoms Up when that was my go-to place. She's older (obviously) and she's carrying a few more pounds than she did back then, but she still does a fine sensuous barside dance with plenty of stick shifting. We did several dances and I went on my way. No one else in the place seemed worth hanging around for or spending money on.
As for the bar details, a Coke cost 2 bucks, no one dances on the tiny stage in the center of the room (typical Akron) and the sign over the VIP says "$20 per song." Not sure what that buys as far as mileage. Worth noting: The VIP looks like a fairly large, very dark room to the left of the bar. The entry is covered by a sheer black curtain that you can see through a bit, but probably not enough to be sure about what's going on in there.
Centerfolds is probably never going to be one of my favorite places. The vibe is mostly neighborhood bar, but with some ghetto overtones. For people who aren't in there much, that combination can make it kind of hard to settle in and feel comfortable. I'll go back again soon, just to see Morgan though. I often wondered where she ended up, and it was an unexpected pleasure to see her.
