It is pretty exciting for me...
It is pretty exciting for me to be able to give a 10 to a club on TUSCL. Even the clubs I visited in Vegas didn't rate a 10. Unfortunately, I think there may be extenuating circumstances. I'll explain.
I am in phoenix on business. Last night, the boss decides to take us all out for sushi. However, my roommate is on the phone and we are late. I go down and the boss is pissed and gives me the car keys and the rest of the team left. So I go up and get my roommate and we have to find this sushi place. We get there and they saved us some seats at the bar. One of my direct reports is on the end of the bar next to a very attractive lady sitting at the very end. I took one look and thought, she could be a dancer. Turns out, she was. Even better, the boss is buying her sushi as well. She tells us all about her club, called the Hi-liter. Of course, I have read the reviews...in fact, I was all set to visit Burboun Street for a comparison to Thursday's visit to Candy Shop. However, the dancer insists that we come see her at the club. Of course, I have enough experience to not make a promise or give my word but my direct report doesn't because he swears up and down we will come by. Anyway, though I didn't witness it directly and I have no corroboration of this, apparantly, one of the guys from the team told her that I like to write these reviews. *shrug* No biggie for me, I am not ashamed.
So, later, after most of the team has turned in, me and these two other guys make our way over the 12th street. We found the place without directions...all the streets in phoenix are either a president or a number so it isn't rocket science. As we pull up, I notice that the outside is the most interesting juxtaposition of great and concerning characteristics. On the one hand, there are bouncers working the door. They do VIP valet parking or let you park yourself to save $5. When it started raining, they broke out the umbrellas. They were friendly, polite and made us feel welcome. At the same time, they scanned us with hand held metal detectors. They walked EVERY dancer to her car and watched her drive away. A large sign observed that the club would not be terrible interested in the display of gang colors. So, I guess the location balances..some good, some not so good. As a plus, I left my lights on and the bouncers noticed and communicated to the DJ who announced it. I got to go out and turn them off before there was a problem, and it would have been a LONG walk back downtown to the hotel. This is just an example of the service we received.
