As other reviewers have stated, this is a small membership only club that serves one purpose....The Mermaid used to be one of the cool places to hang out when it was on Southern (Several years ago). They used to have several dancers and the place was pretty packed. Fast forward to present day, the place is usually pretty dead. I have been there a few times and there has never been more than 2-3 other patrons there at any one time. I am not sure how they can stay in business....Being a membership club, you need to either sign up (No cost) or show your card. My issue is that I lost my card (Actually tossed it so my Significant Other did not run into it) and they have to look through this enormous book to try and find it. That task can take anywhere from 10-30 minutes at which time the "Girls" do not really want to have anything to do with you until you are verified....Don't blame them...Don't want to ask uncle LEO to go back to the VIP room! Drink prices are reasonable and the girls there are pretty cool. Very average looks, nothing to write home about, but it is the mermaid. Like I mentioned, you go there for the VIP area, not the lap dances. I would avoid a lap dance as it is not worth even the $10 fee. Fully clothed, why bother! You can negotiate with the girls. Once I was quoted $140, which is a bit high however the dancer was also a massage therapist so I worked in a pre & post massage. I have also gone back there for as little as $80, which I felt kind of bad afterwords as the girl has to pay the bar and the bouncer. Some people come in to see who is working and stay for a beer, then leave. This is truly a dive bar. If you go in with the intent of going back to the VIP area and realize that the bar is what it is, you will have a good time.
