30 years ago I worked for a liquid oxygen company in Essington. On the first day, the shop guys took me to Lou Turk's for lunch. I went back the other day and was surprised how little had changed. Even the barmaid was a veteran who used to work at the Purple Orchid, back when it was called Porky and Rumps. Drink prices were average. Once upon a time, they used to offer a choice of only 2 brands of beer (If memory serves. it was a choice between Old Milwaukee and Schaefer). At least they have a decent selection now. Girls were unremarkable. None better than a 5. Next to no conversation after they circulate for their tips. Talk about low overhead...not only was there no DJ, the girls played their own music from their own CDs. Not even a juke box. I heard a rumor that there were now couch dances available. There appeared to be an area of the room recently sectioned off, but there were no signs. bouncer and none of the girls offered. There were only 3 girls working in the afternoon. Maybe they couldn't manage the timing. Unless you're a nostalgia nut looking to drink without paying for quality entertainment, there are places that are more interesting.
