I try to drop by Pleasant...

I try to drop by Pleasant Moments about once a year, checking to see how the place is doing, and if anything has changed. I had heard that there were new owners, and so I thought I'd stop in to see what was happening. Although it was never one of my top choices, I'd say that things have taken a turn for the worse.

The setup hasn't changed: The lower section is taken up with a large rectangular bar that can accommodate about 30 people. The stage straddles the lower and upper section, dividing the club so that the upper portion comprises the remaining two thirds. The upper section has small tables, pool tables and three private rooms for lap dances. There are 6 or so flat screen TVs, each of which is tuned to a different game or TV show, and so its a pretty good place for grabbing a beer and watching sports. A lot of the regulars seem to do just that, and the club was reasonably crowded while I was there. I suppose that I'd probably do the same if I lived a little closer. The owners would really be doing themselves a favor, though, if they spent a little money on the physical club itself. The club was a dive when I first started going there, and it hasn't improved at all. The place is just really dirty and run down. A little elbow grease would go a long way in giving the place some appeal., but major renovations are needed: new floors, new ceilings and a nicer stage area would be nice.

What's worse is that these dancers just don't do it for me. There were six or so dancers; half were new, and the other half I remember from as far back as my first visit. Unfortunately, none of them were standouts. Although they were nice enough, I wouldn't look at any one twice if I was walking down the street. I'd rank one girl as a six, but the rest were much much worse, and there is one that they just need to let go. Most of them were pretty aggressive in asking for dances, but I just couldn't imagine enjoying myself in any way, and they kept coming around even after I gave a firm 'No!'. I ended up leaving after half an hour. I'll be looking for some real dancer upgrades before I think about going back.
