I just wanted to verify some of the reviews I have read on this board and wanted to experience something other than Hong Kong and Adelita Bar. After spending most of the evening at HK and AB, I went across the street for a more Mexican experience. This club is directly across the street from Hong Kong, not the one of the same name on the corner. It is definately more suited to hispanic speaking clientele and I was the only gringo in the place.

I paid no cover and walked past the hanging blanked into Tropical. The club is rather small and the girls were sitting around at various tables and at the bar. There did not appear to be too many customers in the place, maybe 8-10 guys. There were more than that number of girls. there were two couples dancing, the girls were pretty obvious dancers. There were no girls walking around, just sitting and texting or talking.

The girls here are more "girl next door" looking than at HK or AB, if that applies in TJ. The girls seemed friendly enough as I walked around, but none of them showed any indication that they were interested. To be fair, I am obviously not local, and my spanish sucks. I would have a hard time having a conversation of more than 30 seconds. If my dancing and my spanish improves before my next visit, I will make a better effort next visit to TJ. I definately like the TJ experience and I think that with better language skills I would really like this bar.
