From what I've read on the reviews it seems like Kings has really turned things around within the last year or couple of months. I stay in the design district just five minutes walking down the street and it's a nice place to unwind after a day of work.
With only a $5 dollar cover and $3.50 domestics and wells, it's not a bad place to just sit and chill even if you aren't getting a dance. Usual $20 dances but new signs went up indicating that it's only $10 and when I asked a dancer about the price change she said it was a 'mistake' however I get the feeling that you could negotiate the price. The staff working is good at asking if you're doing OK with drinks, but not too persistent that it seems they are just trying to get your money.
The place is small with one main stage and a VIP area with two poles. I wish I could tell you how I ended up in the VIP are last time I went but my memory falls short of recollecting that visit. There are all types of dancers from Anglo to Hispanic with the majority being African-American. Half of the dancers are worth getting a private dance with and maybe 2-4 are worth getting into the VIP with.
