Went to Club Onyx Houston on...

Went to Club Onyx Houston on a Friday night. I was on business in Dallas and decided to extend my trip thru the weekend and head down to H-town (have been in Dallas before and was familiar with the clubs there but had never been to Houston). The trip to H-town was definitely worth it!

A bit about myself in order to put my review in context. I am a white Hispanic male in my early 40s and I currently live in south Florida – but I just love ebony women – black clubs are the ones I visit 90% of the time.

Got to Onyx about 9:45 p.m. on a Friday night since it was $5 cover before 10 and $5 Long Islands all night. The club is good sized; not huge; but definitely not a hole-in-the-wall. The club is very clean; very nicely decorated; the staff and dancers were all very friendly . There is a descent amount of parking behind the club. The clientele was mostly African American but there was actually a fair no. of white guys in the club (kind of a rare sight for me since I am usually the only white guy when I visit black clubs especially at night). The African American clientele at Onyx was unlike the clientele I am used to seeing at most black SCs – the clientele was a bit older and looked like the professional/successful type; were dressed nice (not thuggish); and were spending money (often not the case in the black SCs I frequent). The lap dances at Onyx were $20/LD with good friction and I was allowed to let my hands do the talking. The DJ was not one of those frustrated MCs that wants everyone to know who he is – in fact I don’t even remember hearing the DJ. The vibe was one about having fun; everyone (customers, staff, dancers) were very friendly and everyone was having a good time – I felt relaxed and not out of place at all. I left the club around 1:30 a.m. (I believe the club closes about 5 a.m. or so on Friday/Saturday nights) – so I do not know if the clientele/vibe deteriorated after that.
