I visited the Diamond Club again...
I visited the Diamond Club again for the first time in many, many years. I used to live in PA (have since returned), and this place used to be in the basement of a former restaurant (or so it seemed) ... maybe a HoJo's? All I can say is what a change! I was shocked to learn that I didn't need to first store my beer in an outside cooler and then walk down a flight of stairs to enter the place. I was pleasantly surprised by the layout and decor of the place. It's wide open with a large stage in the middle and two smaller stages to the right and rear of the building. The VIP rooms are in the left rear of the building and up a set of stairs.
It's relatively easy to find as it's right off the PA Turnpike at the Old Forge/Taylor exit. Head north on Keyser Ave. about 1 mile, and it's on your left hand side. A lighted sign is out front. Parking is ample but a bit shaky as part of it is paved and part is dirt. Watch out for holes and standing water.
Cover was $15 on a Friday. The air was generally clean, since there were only ~40 people there with only a few of them smoking. The ceiling is huge, too so any smoke drifted away from me. Speaking of smoke, one thing I did like is the lack of dry ice. I've been in clubs where it's sprayed, and I'd almost rather smell cigarette smoke. It's really stifling if you get a whiff of it, but none was here at least this night.
