Players was walking distance from my hotel, so I went over on a Monday night. The club is on the I-40 frontage road, just a mile out of downtown Amarillo. The club looks kind of like a dive on the outside, but inside its more appealing. The interior is fairly narrow and has fake paneling on the walls that make it look like a log cabin. You walk past two pool tables then the middle of the club is chairs and tables. Finally, the back of the club has the main stage with a pole. There is also a small side stage with two poles on the south wall that were not used. The bar is all the way on the far end of the club on the south side. A large moose head hangs above the four-stool bar. There are lots of flat screen televisions all over the walls. The lap dance room is a narrow corridor in the south wall of the building with about five leather loveseats. Privacy is poor if there are others in there getting dances. The cover charge was $5. A domestic beer cost me $3, about the same as what you’d pay at any other bar. When Players opens at 5pm, beers start at just 75 cents, but the price progressively increases until they max out at $3 at 9pm. There was one waitress, and she was not pushing drinks hard on you, like some places tend to do. The crowd was a mix of Hispanic, white, black, and Asian. The club is very laid back and everyone seemed to be having fun. All of the music was hip hop or R&B.
There were ten dancers on duty: four black, four Hispanic, and two white. I’d rate just about all of them in the 1-5 range. Just about all of the girls are overweight here. We are talking beer guts, signs of recent childbirth, and cottage cheese on their legs. However, this is common at just about every club in Amarillo. High-quality strippers migrate out to larger markets. The only acceptable girl for me was a 19 year old light-skinned black girl, Corinne, which was a 7 at best. I sampled a lap dance with her and it was mediocre. She’d grab at my cock, but would not allow me to touch her boobs in a club where two-way is the norm. Her attitude was horrible, and she would talk to me looking away from me. Lap dances are $20, and songs are full-length.
I believe the same people that own Players own another Amarillo club, The Jungle. It looks like Players has had some money put into it to make it a pleasant club, but the one area it is lacking is good-looking dancers. In Players’ defense, there just aren’t many appealing strippers in Amarillo as a whole. This club is good for cheap drinks, but you’ll be searching for diamonds in the rough stripper-wise.
