I had been to Gold Rush...
I had been to Gold Rush once years ago and wasn’t too impressed, but since I was in the neighborhood and had some time to kill, I decided to check it out again. Unfortunately, my impression of the place has only gone down and I don’t plan on returning again anytime soon.
I visited early evening (about 6pm) on a Wednesday night. There was no cover at the time, but there was a parking attendant offering valet or self parking for a fee. I elected to self park ($2.00 if I recall) and headed in. The club is not in the nicest of neighborhoods, but the parking area seemed secure. The club itself was well decorated and clean with a nice stage, two large bars, plenty of seats and an area with pool tables. Several TVs around were tuned to sports.
I’ll make allowances for the fact that it was early on a week night, but the place was practically dead. I’d say less than 10 customers and about 4-6 dancers ( 2 or 3 white and the rest black). Perhaps more were in the back. I sat at the bar near the back and was immediately turned off by a rude waitress walking by yelling at the top of her lungs and directly in my ear to the bartender to tell her I had just sat down. The bartender was only a few feet away. It was an annoying and classless move on her part.
I would rate the dancer I saw as mediocre, nothing to write home about. Most were sitting and chatting with customers. I sat next to a dancer at the bar. She was alone, but didn’t see terrible interested in striking up a conversation. Eventually, she mumbled a few incoherent sentences and after a while when on stage to dance.
I was getting pretty bored as the place was dead and I didn’t see any available dancers worth approaching. The highlight of my time there was when the bartender at the bar where I was sitting jumped up on the bar and danced/paraded around and flipped up her skirt a few times to show off her panties. She was the best looking, nicest and most spirited women in the place. While tipping the dancing bartender, I dropped a dollar bill on the floor by mistake. The rude, yelling waitress from earlier walked by, picked it up and made some comment about the dollar being for her. She really got on my nerves.
