Union Jacks is perhaps one of Portland's more well known clubs. We've (me and my wife) have been there 4 or 5 times, this review is kind of a summation, as the trips were all pretty similar.

UJ's has 2 stages, one up front, and one towards the back, with a bar in between. It's pretty on par as far as cleanliness and upkeep, not a dive at all, and not too glitzy or glammy. The back stage is a little bigger, with the stage putting the girls up high, 'your head at their foot' height. The front stage is smaller, and lower.

The dancers are a mix from more traditional type strippers to the tattooed, "alt" types. The rail action is pretty tame here, you aren't going to get the physical, up close type of attention you get at other clubs. Mostly hands off, 'worship from afar' thing. If you tip (which you always should!), they smile, show you some of the goods if you're lucky, and move on. I would say the girls range in attractiveness from OK-good, with a few in the "ummm, no thanks" category. One time we went, a girl did some fire dancing, which was cool.

They are woman friendly there, no hassles at all on that end, which is a plus.

A few of the girls did try and interact with us a little, nothing too pushy. On one trip, (to be fair, this was about 6 months ago), we actually tried to get a dance from a girl we both liked, but it got weird; rather than rush us to the lap dance area, she kept ordering drinks, talked to other folks, while making it very clear that she expected to be reimbursed for her time. ??!? We asked for a dance, not conversation. 20 minutes later, she suddenly was ready, and quoted a ridiculous price for the couples dance (ummm, the prices are posted everywhere - more than doubling that price? not a good move), but by then out interest had waned, we were ready to go, so we just said "next time", and left.
