Another Monday night at the Play...
Another Monday night at the Play House, another great time. The club was more lightly staffed than usual: only about 10 dancers on the night shift. In fact, for the first hour or two I was there, there was only one dancer on stage, instead of the usual 2. But it was a Monday night in January, just after the Auto Show, so I guess it's not inexplicable. The service was not quite up to standard, either: it took longer for me to get a drink than for the people next to me (who ordered dinner) to get their salads. (On second thought, maybe the fact that I didn't order any food made a difference?) At any rate, it seemed that the place was a little bit in recovery mode after the Auto Show.
That said: The things that draw me back to the Play House were the same as always. (Thank goodness!) Beautiful dancers (least attractive rated about a 7) who are willing to sit and talk before offering a dance; friendly atmosphere, even from the bouncers and parking guys (and when the guy freezing his hinie off in the parking shed is courteous even before you tip him, that says something); enthusiastic lappers with 2-way all-but-kitty contact. And when you have all that, who really cares about the drinks?
Dancers at this place seem to understand that the time spent letting a customer get to know them a little in non-physical ways pays off on subsequent visits. (How are you going to remember someone whose only words to you are, "Would you like a dance?") Even though they were short staffed, both dancers from whom I got laps spent considerable time with me before hand. The only problem is, my "MUST see her again next time" list is growing to the point that my next visit will be several hours long if every dancer on said list is working that night. But I'll certainly go home happy.
