The club is "upscale", which means that after the $3 valet parking (required), the $6 cover, and the $2 coat check (required), you are out $11 plus tips before you sit down. It also means that there's a guy in the men's room who wants $1 for squirting soap onto your hands, though he was nice about it when I told him I'd given all my singles to the dancers. (I didn't mean to stiff him -- I didn't know he'd be there.) But it also means that it's well enough ventilated to disperse the cigarette smoke, it's clean, the
bouncers shave and wear clean shirts, etc. One exception was the coat check room: it smelled as though all the smoke from the rest of the club was collected there. The dress
is listed as "casual", but about half the customers wore ties, and several wore jackets. I would have felt out of place in a T-shirt and jeans. (Question: why would one wear something that requires dry cleaning to get
a lap dance?) The stage was not well lit; when the black girl danced, it would have been difficult to tell where she was were it not for her day-glo pink outfit. The DJ's
mike was far to hot; I happened to be walking by the speakers as he came on after a song, and the result scared me out of a year's growth. (Perhaps a good thing, but still something of a discomfiture.)
