Was in San Diego for a few days to visit a friend and I decided to head over to the famed Hong Kong bar in Tijuana. The only time I could fit this in my schedule was on an early Saturday afternoon around 2pm.After driving from San Diego to San Ysidro which was the last town before crossing the International Border, I parked in one of the border parking lots. I took the taxi over from the US/Mexico border and paid only 5 bucks. The club was in a seedy area of Tijuana as the entire block was filled with prostitutes trying to hit you up for a session and every other building was some sort of strip club or bar. During the daytime I didn’t feel like I was in danger but I can only imagine that the night scene would bring about a more nefarious crowd.

The physical club looks really nice on the inside. The place seems to be divided into several levels as the ground floor had two bars – one near the front entrance and another toward the back. The joint was loud as they were pumping out lots of contemporary rap and rock songs. There were two areas in the front and back of the club with a main stage and a stripper pole where ladies would do their thing. They even had ladies dancing on the bars and on the side which was even cooler. For an early afternoon, the place was quite full as the men to stripper ratio was about 3 to 1. Most of the women were 6-7 on a scale of 10, and I was never approached by dancers for any one on one time which was a little disappointing as I resorted to tipping dancers on the main stage for any attention. I was also disappointed that the bartenders never asked me if I wanted any one on one time with any of the girls as reported by others on the forum, although they did hound the hell out of me for drinks. I left after an hour and a half and headed back over to the border.

In conclusion, Hong Kong was a little bit of a disappointment in that the hustle factor was a little lacking unlike other strip clubs I’ve been to. Usually girls would hunt you down for VIP dances or some of the extracurricular activities that Hong Kong’s been known to offer. But unfortunately, I never got to experience that. Perhaps the time of day had something to do with it as I did go in the early afternoon hours on Sunday as suppose to a Friday or Saturday night. For that, I am willing to write this off this experience as an exception rather than the norm, and I would be willing to give it another shot on a Friday or Saturday night just to be sure. Alas that will have to wait another time.
