I was recently in Baltimore on business and decided to check out some clubs. But I only visited one, Club Pussycat, and was so totally disappointed that I decided to quit while I was ahead and go back to my hotel room. First, to be fair, my understanding is that all the clubs on “The Block†in Baltimore have the same very strange way of way of doing business. So perhaps this approach simply doesn’t agree with me and I would have been equally unhappy at any of the clubs on “The Block†for this reason. I really don’t know. Anyway, here is my experience with Club Pussycat: The club is basically a bar, like any other small city bar you’ve ever been to, except there is a dancer on a small catwalk back behind the bar at about bar level. There were two dancers in the club while I was there (a little after noon) and one of them took off her top while she danced and the other did not. So the dance is basically a light tease to induce a customer to buy a dancer a drink and negotiate a lap dance or a private dance back in the VIP. I offered to buy one of the dancers a drink and we chit-chatted a while to negotiate a dance. She assured me that the VIP is totally private and that, for the right price, we could spend an uninterrupted half hour together and that I would leave *totally* satisfied. She told me her price, which I thought was reasonable, so we headed upstairs to a very dingy, grimy VIP room. Now, I’m very aware that a lot of dancers are rip-off artists, but I’ve been very lucky over the years and rarely get ripped off. In fact, I usually do leave *totally* satisfied. But this case was definitely one of the rare exceptions—boy, did I get ripped off! Basically, I had a half hour dance where the dancer was totally nude and I could touch her freely with my hands. That’s definitely not so bad, but I was excepting a lot more than that for the price. When I reminded her that we had a very clear understanding that I would leave *totally* satisfied, she started up with the old bait and switch routine, telling me that this was the best dance I could get for that price and that if I wanted more that I would have to up the ante. Well, I absolutely never play that game, so I simply enjoyed the rest of my half hour and then got the hell out of Dodge. I’m embarrassed to say how much I paid for the half hour, but it was about 4-5 times what I would ordinarily pay for exactly the same thing. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. Fortunately, I do win far more than I lose. But that’s based on a lot of intimate interplay with a dancer before we negotiate a VIP “dance.†The way clubs operate on “The Block†really doesn’t allow for that kind of interplay, which is why I decided to cut my losses and go back to my room and jerk off.
