The Source is an out-of-the-way club far away from the bright lights of Montreal. It is located on the West Island and is well situated for those staying near the airport. The club is sited in a non-descript strip mall just off the Trans-Canada highway.

The club has a mom-and-pop feel to it, the décor is dated, the stage dilapidated, and the staff appear like they have been there forever. The ambience is closer to an Italian eatery, an unusual theme for a strip club, it has a Mediterranean theme with murals on the walls featuring ocean scenes. A kitchen serves up an acceptable quick meal, consisting of bar food and Quebec’s national dish ‘Poutine.’

The club has a threadbare look, as do some of the dancers. The dancers ranged in age from 18 to 50. The stage shows are poor and the girls do not put a lot of effort. The dancers typically do two sets, the first, topless and the second, nude.

Contact dances are $10 and are given in booths located off to the side of the club. The booths offer some privacy by way of a sheer, cloth curtain. The club’s bouncer often checks up on the contact dances by peering into the booths to be sure that there is no ‘funny business’ going on. A dancer told me that the management is very strict about not allowing any extras. The presence of the ‘chaperones’ is inhibiting and takes away from the fun and the experience. I am sure that it also cuts down on the clientele.

I would only recommend this place for those looking for an alternative to the downtown clubs. Do not set your expectations too high and you might end up being surprised at the services offered.
