I've been to the Shoe on...
I've been to the Shoe on several occassions, usually after varying successful days gambling at Charles Town. The club location is a plus, only 5 minutes from the casino. Like many, the club is dark and too loud. There is a large pool room, which does not see much use. The club has a decent stage, with a lot of rail space. (most patrons sit near rail or close enough to reach rail). There are some more plush chairs with small tables if you prefer to sit back and talk. Also some seating at the bar.
The biggest concern about the Shoe is the "private" dance area. You go into a back room and there are essentially door/curtainless cubicles with a pommel-horse type bench you sit on. You need to fork over the $ for the juke box (I wonder if Alice's Restaurant or American Pie are on there for longevity :-) Even with the open dance area, a generally bored looking bouncer/owner sits next to the juke box for your entire time there.
If you go for the VIP, those cubes are further down and have a cutain, but hardly private and at $160 would have to have to some serious contact.
