During a recent trip to Mobile, I visited Sammy's after a night at the Candy Store. I'd say Sammy's was better overall, some ways not by much, but in others by a lot -- women in particular. Candy Store was all over the place from 2s to 9s, mostly mediocre. Sammy's had a consistent group, one or two at most that weren't in the 7-8 range, but most were that caliber (Terry, from looks to attitude, rates a 9). There was a $6 cover, a beer and a diet coke will cost you $8 (after 2 non-alcoholic drinks, they're free). The club has the classic, more upscale and comfortable atmosphere. The club isn't very big, but it has an open layout, so for sitting around, drinking and tipping dancers around the main stage or one of the sige stages, it's not going to disappoint. There's really not much of an area for lap dances (this is where it has no edge over Candy Store, which is just as open without much ambience for your $20 dance) -- you won't confuse a lap dance in Mobile for one you'd get in New Orleans, your $20 just doesn't go as far. The "champagne" room at Sammy's isn't a bad deal though. It's spacious and comfortable, so-so privacy (but private enough). You might get hit up for a $200 bottle of champagne, but you can get a smaller bottle or wine for $100. If you'd like an hour of undivided attention with someone you think is worth the investment -- you'll likely get no mileage from your dancer out in the open, but going VIP, you'll get much better action (but again, Mobile is by no means New Orleans). I dropped the $100, $20 tipping the waitress, another $60 for at least a half dozen dances...GREAT dances...and good conversation too. When I come to Mobile again in a year, I'm likely not to return to Candy Store, it's too hit or miss in terms of a good time, but Sammy's, while not the end all be all, is a good time, no headaches and worth the visit.
